Hackensack Gospel Church

The Hackensack Gospel Church is a community of hope for those in Bergen County region. We have been proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ for over 150 years. Through everything, we seek to always be developing fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Our Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Hackensack Gospel Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

Scriptures

In the verbal inspiration of all the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, and that they are the final authority in faith and life.

God

In one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Humanity

In the total depravity of all humanity, and the necessity of regeneration.
Romans 3:9-11; Ephesians 2:1-4; John 3:3, 16, 36

Salvation

That salvation is the free gift of God, entirely apart from works, and is possessed by all who by faith received the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Christ

In the virgin birth of Christ, and that he is true God and true man. That the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, and that with his shed blood, he obtained for us an eternal redemption. In the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in his ascension into heaven, and in his present life as our high priest and advocate.

The Holy Spirit

That the Holy Spirit is a divine person and that he indwells all believers.

End Times

In the personal, pre-millennial, imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Resurrection

In the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

Our History

The story of the Hackensack Gospel Church begins as the First Baptist Church starts when the city of Hackensack was only a small village. The busy streets we see today were small dirt roads. Here, a group of believers saw the need for the ministry. In faith, they heard the Lord’s calling in the community of Hackensack.
